Destination Weddings in the canton of Valais / Wallis

The canton of Valais (Wallis in German) occupies the valley – hence the name – of the River Rhone. From its source in the glaciers of the central Alps, the river Rhone flows like a blue ribbon through the hills and the mountains all the way to Lake Geneva. Although 20% of the canton is covered by glaciers, the region has the driest climate and the most sunshine of the whole country! Zermatt is located at the foot of the world famous mountain Matterhorn. This mountain with its impossibly pointed shape is Switzerland’s trademark. Zermatt is car free, so can you imagine any better way to get to church than in a horse-drawn sleigh??!!
